David Attenborough tells the full story of the longest-running animal behaviour study ever, which centres around meerkats - now one of the most famous animal families on the planet. The study is entering its 20th year in 2013 and this film tells the story of the early pioneering days, when it was a challenge to even get close to its furry subjects, through to the latest revelations about these animals and their complex lives. Featured in this film are two meerkat pups, Squirt and Weeny, who must face up to the challenge of a drought and one of the toughest years in their family's history.
